Anxiety counselling in Bromley and online
When your mind won’t switch off, everyday life can take much more effort than anyone sees. You might appear calm while checking, planning and worrying underneath. Or anxiety might feel obvious: a racing heart, a tight chest, restless nights or dread before something you used to manage comfortably.
At Untangled Therapy, anxiety counselling gives you space to understand what is happening and explore what might help. We offer sessions in Bromley and online, welcoming people from Beckenham, Bickley, Chislehurst and nearby areas. You don’t need to wait until anxiety takes over before talking to someone.
Anxiety doesn’t look the same for everyone
You might worry about work, money, health or people you love. Perhaps you replay conversations, imagine the worst or feel responsible for preventing every possible problem. Social situations can become exhausting when you are watching yourself closely and wondering what others think.
For some people, anxiety centres on a particular situation. For others, it is a background feeling that rarely leaves. You might seek reassurance, avoid things or keep yourself constantly busy. These responses can make sense when you are trying to feel safe, even if they eventually leave your world feeling smaller.
There can also be frustration or shame: “Why can’t I just stop worrying?” Counselling offers a place to explore that question with curiosity, without adding another demand to get yourself under control.
How counselling could help
We can look together at when anxiety shows up, what it seems to be warning you about and how you respond. That might include noticing patterns of overthinking, expectations you place on yourself, difficult experiences or pressures in your present life.
Depending on your counsellor and what suits you, sessions may include practical ways to respond to anxious thoughts, grounding or exploring the feelings beneath the worry. We can talk about what helps in the moment and what you would like to change over time.
The aim isn’t to promise that you will never feel anxious. It is to help you develop more understanding and choice, so anxiety has less say over how you live. We will agree a focus together and check whether the work feels useful.
A pace that feels manageable
You don’t have to arrive with a clear explanation. “I feel on edge all the time” is a perfectly good starting point. If talking about something feels difficult, you can say so. You won’t be pushed to disclose everything in the first session.
We also take your circumstances seriously. Worry about insecure work, caring responsibilities or a strained relationship isn’t simply a thinking error. Counselling can make room for the realities of your life alongside the ways you cope with them.

Questions you might have
Do I need an anxiety diagnosis?
No. You can seek counselling because you are worrying, avoiding things or finding life harder, whether or not you have a diagnosis.
Can we work on overthinking?
Yes. You can bring repetitive thoughts, second-guessing and the feeling that your mind never gives you a break. We will explore what keeps that pattern going.
What if anxiety overlaps with something else?
It often does. You may also want to explore stress and burnout, self-esteem, or people-pleasing and boundaries. You don’t have to choose one issue to deserve support.
