Meet Heather
Integrative, neuro-affirming Counsellor.
At the heart of my practice is a desire to create a space where you can feel more centred, authentic and aligned with yourself.
There is so much in life that can leave us feeling othered, lonely, exhausted or stuck. Despite our best intentions, familiar patterns can repeat, self-criticism can persist, and we can find ourselves depleted, stressed and longing for life to feel a little easier.
Therapy cannot promise to make life easy. What it can offer is a safe and supportive space to explore the patterns, events and experiences that may have shaped us. With time, curiosity and compassion, we can begin to process what has happened, develop a deeper understanding of ourselves and create new possibilities for how we move forward.
Perhaps you haven’t experienced a sense of peace for many years, or perhaps more recent events have left you feeling destabilised or disconnected from yourself. Together, we can gently explore what you need to feel safer, more grounded and more compassionate towards yourself.
As a trauma-informed therapist, I work at your pace. I understand how vulnerable, and sometimes frightening, it can feel to explore experiences that have hurt us. Your sense of safety and choice is central to our work together.
As a neurodivergent adult myself, I also offer a genuinely neuro-affirming space. This might involve exploring what you need from your environment, working through questions around diagnosis, or simply having the opportunity to explore what life has been like from your perspective, without judgement or the pressure to conform to expectations.
Because traditional talking therapy does not work for everyone, I also incorporate somatic approaches where appropriate and where we have collaboratively decided that they may be helpful. Somatic work involves paying attention to the relationship between our emotional experiences and our bodies. It can offer alternative ways of understanding and working with unprocessed experiences, emotional intensity, stress and cycles of burnout, alongside talking therapy.
Most importantly, I believe that you are the expert in your own life – even if life has sometimes made you question that.
My role is to walk alongside you, offering curiosity, compassion and support as we work together towards greater self-understanding, self-acceptance and meaningful change.
If you feel that my approach resonates with you, I would be very happy to hear from you.
