Meet Marta
A Bromley therapist for people who don't like therapists.
Hello. I'm Marta, an integrative therapist in Bromley and online. If the idea of therapy feels awkward, overly clinical, or just "not you", you're the kind of person I often work with.
Traditional approaches work well for many people (and we can absolutely use them), but others feel there isn't always a clear place for them in therapy. You don't need the right words, a clear plan, or even certainty about why you're here. We can figure that out together.
How I work
My approach is relational, human, and led by you: your pace, your needs, your goals, even if they change along the way. Sessions are open conversations where you can speak freely and be yourself. There are no quick fixes, but depending on what you need, we can shape the work to be more reflective and exploratory, or more solution-focused and practical.
Integrative counselling: five approaches, used as you need them
I draw from different approaches depending on what helps you most:
Person-centred: a safe space where you can talk openly and be heard without judgement.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) informed practice: practical ways of understanding thoughts, emotions and behaviours, mostly in the here and now.
Psychodynamic: gently looking at where patterns may come from, if and when you want to go there.
Compassion Focused Therapy: building a kinder, less critical relationship with yourself.
Narrative Therapy: looking at the stories you tell yourself about who you are and what you've been through, and finding out how they can change (because they can!).
You don't have to arrive "ready for therapy"
You only have to be willing to take a first step. Turn up uncertain, curious, sceptical, overwhelmed, hopeful, or somewhere in between. My job is to walk alongside you, help you make sense of what's happening, notice patterns that no longer serve you, and make space for something different.
Therapy doesn't have to feel heavy, intimidating or distant. It can feel like a genuine conversation where you're met as a person first, not a problem to be fixed. As E. M. Forster wrote, "How do I know what I think until I see what I say?" We can explore that together, safely and supportively.
Everyone is welcome
I welcome people from all backgrounds, identities, cultures, relationship styles and life experiences. Wherever you find yourself right now, you're welcome here.

Questions
Do you offer CBT in Bromley?
I'm not a CBT therapist, but I'm CBT-informed. That means I sometimes draw on practical CBT ideas, like noticing the links between thoughts, feelings and behaviour, where they help. If you're looking for a structured CBT programme, I may not be the best fit, but I'm happy to point you towards someone who is.
What if I'm not sure therapy is for me?
That's completely fine, and common. Start with a free 15-minute call, see how it feels, and decide afterwards.
